SEO for Multilingual Websites
Every business that has a website should be doing “search engine optimization” (SEO). What is that exactly? That is where you optimize your website so it ranks higher in Google and Bing. You have to look at your website through the eyes of a search engine, not only in English but in every language your website offers.

How do I can rank higher in Google and Bing?
- Keywords. Do the main keywords which people search in Google appear throughout the text on your particular web page? Each web page should be written to focus on two or three main keywords unique to that page. It’s also recommended to use your main keyword phrase in your Domain Name, URL, and H1 header tag on your page.
- Meta Tags – Keywords. In the HTML coding, at the top of the web page, you can insert “META TAGS” which are used by the search engines to rank your web page higher. Here, you can include your keywords, page title, and website description. In the keyword section, you should list 5-10 different keywords which are also found on your web page.
- Meta Tags – Title Bar. Do you main keywords appear in the “Title Bar” of the web page? This is the one of the most important items used in ranking web pages.
- Meta Tags – Website Description. Do you have a well-written, concise description of your web page which includes the same keywords? This is the sentence or two which appears in Google that describes your web page.
- “ALT” Tags for Images. Each image should have an “ALT” tag that describes the image, preferably using your most important keywords.
- No Keywords in Graphics. The text inside graphics is not seen by the search engines. It’s best to have all of your keywords as actual text on a web page.
- Links to Directories, Blogs, Social Media. Search engines love links. It’s important that the links have keywords and text which they will find valuable as part of the ranking.
